Now in its forth year, the Cold Water Classic is truly an extreme event that forms part of the JBay Winterfest being held from 6 - 17 July 2016 in Jeffreys Bay. Held on the 16 July 2016, swimmers can test themselves by swimming a mile, double mile or triple mile in ±12°C water.
The goal of the Metsi Participation League is to grow open water swimming in the Port Elizabeth area. The Participation League will incentivize swimmers, coaches and swimming clubs to actively encourage swimmers to try open water swimming.
The Metsi Participation League will be run over the Metsi Open Water Swim Series and EP Championships.
Clubs will earn League Points as per the League Table (below) at all League Races. The club with the most accumulated points at the end of the year will be the winning club. The top swimmers (the swimmers that have contributed the most points to their club) in the Participation League will also be recognized for their efforts.
The open water at Marina Martinique is world class and the perfect place to introduce new swimmers to the sport. The water is safe, of excellent quality and swimmable in any weather conditions.
Participation will be open to the regions swimming clubs. Only swimmers that are officially registered with a club and have a SSA number will earn league points.
